Koop: Insuring Automation

Kamron Khodjaev & Sergey Litvinenko built a platform to provide insurance for a whole new category of autonomous technology.

Automation is changing the world as we know it. With automation come new risks, from routine system hiccups to catastrophic fleet outages. Koop covers those risks.

The adoption of commercial robotics has been increasing over the last 20 years, well before the pandemic. For enterprises, adopting automation of human error-prone processes is a no-brainer: higher safety and better productivity. There has been a proliferation of warehouse automation, automated agricultural machinery, autonomous mining solutions, and commercial drones.

Koop is an insurance technology company specializing in autonomous transportation modes such as robotaxis, autonomous trucks, shuttles, deliveries, industrial robotics, agricultural machinery, mining, vessels, and drones. They built a modular, API-powered insurance platform that enables data collection, underwriting, and claims handling of AV risks in a cost-efficient, scalable manner. As autonomy commercializes and on-road robots become ubiquitous, they are on the mission to help the commercialization of autonomy by building insurance and financial products on top of the stack.
