Ali Amin-Javaheri is leading the chemical industry into the digital age.
Amin-Javaheri is co-founder of Bee portfolio company Knowde, a San Francisco-based B2B marketplace connecting buyers and sellers across the chemical industry.
The startup company recently raised $72 million from investors to help expand its reach. Although originally aimed at smaller entities, the platform has gained traction with larger groups as well, including Unilever.
In a recent interview with Forbes, Amin-Javaheri cited his previous experience in the industry as part of his drive to establish an efficient, online route for chemists to further their work.
“The way that innovation happens is through chemistry, if you want to innovate faster and get the right ingredients, you have to be able to find the right suppliers,” he said. “We take a lot of pride in the fact that essentially we’ve built the Google for chemistry.”
